Review of the Nokia 700: A small phone packed with character

November 15th, 2011

Nokia 700 reviewThe Nokia 700 has a lot of reasons to just chill. Not much is expected of this mobile phone but it might surprise you when you get a hold of it. This is a small pone that is ready for the big things. It has a nice slim 9.7 mm body design with an eye catching ClearBlack AMOLED crisp 3.2-inch screen. It has a 1 GHz CPU working in tandem with a 512 MB of RAM. It works pretty neat for those who want their phones on Symbian Belle OS.

The Nokia 700 also comes with a 5 megapixel camera with face detection, geo tagging, and LED flash; 2gig of inbuilt storage which you can expand with a microSD; FM radio; Bluetooth and WiFi functions; proximity sensor; and accelerometer.

Design

The Nokia 700 will be a supermini if it is car at 110×50.7×9.7 mm in dimension and weighing only 96 grams. According to the phonemaker, this is among their greenest phone so far. The internals are crafted from recycled materials and they used bio-based paint to give the Nokia 700 its nice finish. \

The body of this mobile phone is a good blend of plastic and metal components. It is pretty small but it does not feel too delicate or too plasticky. You might want a bigger screen to come with it though but somehow the ClearBlack technology of Nokia makes looking at the small screen hassle free even outdoors. The keys below the screen do not protrude as much as you expect too but they can still be pressed easily. The same is true for the rest of the buttons like the volume rocker and the lock key.

User Interface

The Symbian Belle is perfect for the functionality the Nokia 700 wants to have. The Belle got a makeover and we can say the polished features like its native apps, menu, and homescreen serve it well. It ticks good, very fluid, and efficient.

Here’s a nice video to give you a peek:

Conclusion

The Nokia 700 is a good phone rolling off the production line of Nokia. It is a good alternative if you do not have the budget for an Android phone. It can be at par in beauty and will not lag much in terms of function.

Finding the best Cell Phone Deals Online

August 14th, 2010

These days you can buy almost anything online, and that includes a cell phone. If you know what you are doing buying your cell phone online can be an excellent way to get a good deal, unfortunately it can also be a good way to end up with an overpriced cell phone that doesn’t meet your needs. Thinking about how you intend to use your cell phone will make it easier to find the best cell phone deal online.

phone illustrationThe first thing that you are going to need to think about when you are choosing a cell phone deal is why you need a cell phone and how you intend to use it. The best plan for a teenager is completely different from the type of plan that a businessman who travels a lot would require. You may want a pay as you go plan so that you don’t find yourself overusing minutes and wind up owing more money than you thought you would. Or you may find that a family plan is a better option. Everybody has different needs and you have to assess what yours are in order to make sure that you make the right choice.

The great thing about being able to buy a cell phones online is that it is easy to make comparisons, this is something you definitely want to take advantage of. Compare everything, compare rates, coverage, contract length and make sure to check out the phone deals at phones4u. There are a lot of options available when it comes to cell phones and the price differences can be huge so it is important that you do your comparison shopping. Not only will this help you to get the best deal it will allow you to see what options are available so they you can make the right choice.

It is important to keep in mind that it isn’t a good cell phone deal if your phone doesn’t work. Not all cell phones work in all areas and some work better in some areas than in others. Obviously you are going to want to make sure that you get a phone that is going to work in the area in which you intend to use it. You will also want to make sure that any contract you sign isn’t committing you to pay for things that you don’t need. A lot of cell phone companies slip in things that will cost you money, watch out for them.

Upcoming iTG xpPhone: Check It Out!

October 31st, 2009

iTG xpPhoneLet’s go ahead and talk about another cell phone that is up and coming and that is certainly going to be the highlight in China.  It is the iTG xpPhone – this particular phone is actually a smartphone that has a ton of different specs that we are going to get into and I think that this phone actually looks pretty damn cool too.

This smartphone boasts a 4.8-inch 800 x 480 touchscreen display, an AMD Super Mobile CPU, a 512MB/1GB RAM, an optional 8GB SSD or 120GB HDD, a 1.3MP camera, GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth, Windows XP OS and supports both GSM and CDMA connectivity.

All of that and yet there is no word on when you can get it or how much you are going to pay – that is sad.

The Sony Ericsson C905a: A Must Have for Shutterbugs!

September 11th, 2009

sony_ericsson_c905a_phoneThe Sony Ericsson C905a is making enormous waves in the cell phone world — but not precisely because of the phone itself. It is big news because of its camera — a whopping 8.1 megapixel wonder. As you can just imagine, the phone’s camera has more megapixels than any other handset you can find in the United States or almost anywhere else right now. The stakes have definitely been raised.

This slider phone was specifically designed for those people who do not want to carry around a bunch of different devices. As such, the camera is not your standard camera phone; it is more like a point and shoot. It has auto focus, xenon flash complete with red eye reduction, and face detection.

The only problem is that, by all accounts, a great camera is just about all this phone has to offer.

Verizon Preparing to Launch 4G Network Next Year

August 6th, 2009

verizon-logo-470x310Currently cell phone manufacturers everywhere are going 4G crazy. Forget 3G, that is just so last year. Verizon is the latest cell phone manufacturer to jump on the 4G bandwagon. The company recently announced that they have finished their initial tests for their 4G wireless service. This service will offer speeds which are anywhere between five times to ten times faster than the current, existing networks. It is expected that the network will roll out next year in 2010.

Verizon will be using Long Term Evolution, or LTE, which is a new technology. Using it, the manufacturer succeeded in making calls in both Seattle and Boston. They will be the first cities who offer these faster services.

These calls used a spectrum once assigned to television stations which has recently been freed for use by cell phones — the 700 MHz spectrum.

It is expected that the download speeds for the new network will range from seven to twelve Mbps.

All of the United States are expected to be able to use the new 4G network by 2013.

HTC Touch Pro2: It’s Almost Here!

August 1st, 2009

HTC Touch Pro2It is finally the announcement that we have all been waiting for – T-Mobile is finally coming out with the HTC Touch Pro2 on August 12th, this year.  This phone is not only one of the coolest looking phones but it also has some pretty cool specs that we are going to talk about below.  One thing that is most noticeable about this particular phone though is going to be the touchscreen as well as the keyboard slide out – which to me is very, very important.

The rest of the specs go like this:  3.2-megapixel camera, AWS 3G, GPS, a 3.6-inch WVGA display, and WiFi. The phone also boasts the unique Straight Talk technology that delivers an integrated email, voice and speakerphone experience.  Another cool thing that this phone is useful for is using it as a conference call phone – and you can check your e-mail at the same time!

The HTC Touch Pro2 is definitely one phone that everyone should check into getting – it is stylish, chic and fashionable … and totally awesome!

HTC Leo: Is It The Truth?

July 25th, 2009

HTC LeoIs one smartphone company that seems to be doing very well for themselves, it is HTC.  Now, it seems to me that they make luxury cell phones for people that are looking to get a little more out of their cell phone – however, that might not always be the case.  The HTC Leo is actually in the works right now and this clamshell phone is actually one cool and technology-packed piece of equipment.

It is rumored to have a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, an internal WVGA display that is going to be about 480×800 with a 16:9 ratio.  HTC the company is also rumored to release some other phones, however I do not think that they are going to compare exactly to this particular phone.

Now, I must tell you – the picture, is actually an old HTC Omni mockup, however it should be quite similar to what the HTC Leo looks like … I hope anyway!

The RIM Blackberry Tour!

June 22nd, 2009

blackberry-tour-1Currently, the RIM Blackberry Tour is one of the hottest phones on the market. It was released for Verizon Wireless and Sprint and as a 3G smart phone, it delivers what it promises. You can “tour” by making calls all throughout the world. What does it support? EV-DO Rev, of course — at high speeds. You can email, send IMs, SMS, MMS, and do all kinds of social networking. Naturally, of course, GPS is built right into the phone, which has a full QWERTY keyboard. The display is all about high resolution, the phone has a 3.2 megapixel camera, it supports video recording, has a media player to play videos, and of course users can enjoy the latest and best Bluetooth, music, and pictures.

So, guess what we will soon be seeing all over Hollywood? Blackberry is definitely giving the iPhone a serious run for its money!
